Ginetta GT Supercup

Ginetta Cars’ flagship championship, the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup is a two-tier category featuring immensely powerful 3.7-litre Ginetta G55 sportscars and their predecessors – the still extremely competitive Ginetta G50.

Offering tremendous race action, the championship has rapidly gained a very strong foothold on the BTCC support package and is regarded as a true springboard for those drivers bidding for a career in touring cars or top-line GT and sportscar racing.

In 2011, the eventual Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup Champion – Adam Morgan – won the biggest and most career-changing prize in British motorsport, a fully-funded drive in the BTCC for 2012. This year’s intake will be aiming to reach similar heights.

Returning for a second season at the wheel of his Ginetta G55, and a fifth straight year in Ginetta’s flagship championship, Tom Sharp is almost certain to be the favourite. Despite some serious misfortune in 2011, he still battled back to third in the points and was tantalisingly close to the title. Keep an eye out too for talented newcomer, former Caterham racer Jamie Orton.
