Michelin at Porsche 50th Event
2nd-4th September 2011. Michelin participated in the Porsche G
olden Jubilee celebrations held at Cirencester, Gloucestershire with a stand presence and sponsorship of the driving events held on-site and open to visitors.
Now in its 50th year, the Porsche Club GB is the largest officially recognised Porsche Club in Europe with a me mbership in excess of 15,000.
The 3-day festival comprised of...
-Track day at Castle Combe
-Vehicle handling and performance testing at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone with the Porsche Panamera and Porsche Cayenne being put through their paces.
-Club register displays, trade fair, car auction , seminars and concours competition held in the grounds of Cirencester Agricultural College
-Gala evening dinner, complete with Porsche ice sculpture and evening firework celebration
Michelin Man also attended the event and made a guest appearance to present the trophies to the winners of the two driving competitions...
-The Porsche Club GB-Michelin driving challenge, involving drivers having to perform against the clock manoeuvering a Porsche 997 aboard a car trailer, being towed with a Porsche Cayenne !
-The Porsche high speed handling challenge, requiring owners to use their own Porsches to drive around around a a tight handling course with penalties for hitting cones.
Marketing manager at Michelin, Mike Meredith commented “The event provided us with a great opportunity to meet Porsche drivers. Driving performance vehicles, they appreciate the fact that Porsche’s perform to their best capabilities when fitted with Porsche approved tyres, such as the N-marked Michelin Tyres. Alongside the MICHELIN PS2, drivers were particularly keen on finding out about the new MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport and MICHELIN Alpin cold weather tyres.”
